This is a redevelopment project of 40 apartments just off Clapham High Street, with a mix of affordable and market homes, and which also provides some 10,000 sq ft of office space. Parking is provided within the basement.
With a total development value around £20M it is one of the most ambitious single projects yet developed by Oakapple.
The previous property on the site provided office space for Kone PLC, however the building occupied only a small part of the site. Oakapple therefore took the opportunity to pursue comprehensive redevelopment. The site is close to both underground and mainline train stations, hence a high density scheme was the obvious solution, replacing the office space, and providing apartments on the upper floors. Gaining the necessary Planning Approval was an arduous process, however permission was eventually secured and construction completed in late 2016.
The affordable homes were sold to One Housing, and Kone PLC have returned to occupy the new offices. In line with the spirit of partnership which prevails at Oakapple, Kone Plc will share the benefit of the value added through this scheme.
